This course is designed to help you experience and learn how to use the aerial silk as a supportive tool for Restorative and Yin-style practices. It offers a transformative journey where the mind-body connection is gently reawakened in a safe, nurturing environment.

Throughout this training, we’ll explore the foundations of Aerial Restorative Yoga, using the hammock to support the body in poses that release tension, encourage alignment, and restore vital energy. You’ll also gain insight into functional anatomy, teaching techniques, and intelligent adaptations for different body types and levels, enabling you to guide your students with confidence, safety, and compassion.

Our goal is to empower both students and teachers to not only master the physical techniques but to also understand the therapeutic essence of this practice, supporting the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of those you guide.

and Catarina is is a dedicated and loving teacher.

WHAT IS RESTORATIVE & AERIAL YOGA?

Restorative Aerial Yoga is a therapeutic practice designed to calm the nervous system, encourage deep rest, and restore the body’s natural balance. Using the aerial hammock as a supportive prop, the body is gently cradled in passive postures that allow for total release of muscular tension and effort. This environment of safety and surrender stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, shifting the practitioner from “doing” into “being.”

From a teaching perspective, Restorative Aerial Yoga emphasizes energetic holding space, subtle cueing, and the use of props to create full-body support. The teacher learns to observe signs of relaxation and release, guiding students through breath awareness, grounding techniques, and mindful transitions. This approach enhances emotional regulation, supports recovery from stress or burnout, and cultivates a sense of spaciousness in both body and mind.

Yin Aerial Yoga integrates the principles of Yin Yoga with the lightness and decompression offered by the hammock. Poses are held for several minutes to gently stress and hydrate the fascia and connective tissues, improving mobility and joint health. The hammock helps reduce compression on the joints, allowing for a deeper yet safer exploration of each posture.

Energetically, Yin Aerial Yoga targets the meridian lines and subtle energy pathways of the body, promoting balanced energy flow and emotional release. Teachers learn to guide long-held postures with sensitivity, focusing on functional anatomy, target areas, and the role of stillness as a pathway to introspection and transformation.

Together, Restorative and Yin Aerial Yoga offer a holistic approach that bridges physical, energetic, and emotional healing, empowering teachers to hold space for their students’ full spectrum of experience, from tension and fatigue to renewal and inner peace.

ABOUT THE TEACHER'S TRAINER:

CATARINA AIRES MOTA

Woman. Sister. Mother.
Taurus rising, Sagittarius soul.

From a young age, Catarina has been guided by a deep curiosity to understand herself and the world around her. Her journey began through the art of touch, studying massage, and soon expanded into a lifelong exploration of the body, mind, and spirit.
She is, above all, a seeker. In 2001, she graduated in Ayurvedic Massage, followed by training in Sound Massage with Tibetan Bowls (Peter Hess Method) and Kundalini Massage in India (2008). Over the years, new tools continued to appear on her path, each one deepening her connection to the healing power of movement and presence.

Catarina is an internationally certified Yoga and Aerial Yoga Teacher.

In 2012, she completed her 200-hour Tantra Yoga Teacher Training with the Tri Dosha Method in India. From that moment, movement as medicine became her way of life, first as a personal practice, then as a path to support others. Living in Norway at the time, she began teaching and quickly discovered her passion for sharing this wisdom.

Ever the student, she continues to explore Yoga, Aerial Arts, Breathwork, Vinyasa Flow, Dance, Afro Dance, Water Movement, and Plant Medicine, following what feels true and alive in her own body.

Movement healed her. It became her language, her medicine, her truth.
She works in harmony with Nature and the Elements, allowing each to guide her teaching.

Catarina’s classes are dynamic, sometimes powerful and energizing, sometimes soft and restorative, but always rooted in breath, awareness, and respect for each individual’s unique body and journey.

"Your teachings are with me. I think the most powerful one is having this relationship with my breath and my body, having my movements be guided by my breath! Wow! And also the fire, to initiate and go for it! To test my own limits and my strength and endurance! Feels good and empowering!"
