What is Reiki and how does it work?

Reiki means 'Universal Life Energy' that flows through the body during the treatment. By laying hands on parts of your body, the energy flows to points that are out of balance. If you have a lot of physical pain or are you tense, then the energy will go there, where it will be needed most. Reiki fills the deficiency and is healing.

Reiki is primarily based on transmission. The energy between therapist and client can help to prevent unpleasant ailments or speed up a healing process. The treatment in no way replaces conventional medicine, but complements and supports regular care

Reiki is a simple, natural and practical healing technique to relax and balance body and soul. A direct hands-on approach is often used to lead energy to the desired place.

Reiki works as a stress reducer and since stress is an important factor in many diseases, Reiki can be helpful with numerous complaints and ailments.

The concept of Reiki comes from Japan. It actually consists of two components: Rei (spiritual, sacred) and ki (life force, life energy). Reiki applies this omnipresent universal energy.

Actually Reiki has been around for thousands of years, but the technique as we know it today was rediscovered in the early 20th century. It is developed by the Japanese Mikao Usui as a method to reconnect man with his own spirituality.

What happens during Reiki treatment at Mahé Studio?
 

During a Reiki treatment in the studio the client lies fully clothed on the massage table and the practitioner places his or her hands successively on the appropriate places. The treatment lasts about one hour, deeply relaxes mind and body and will encourage the energy flow in the body to full potential, so possible blockages can be released. It is advisable to drink plenty of water afterwards to help the body release its waste products.

Within Reiki we work with directing this universal energy. We are able to absorb and pass on this energy from birth. Anyone can learn to apply Reiki. What's the first thing you do when you bump your elbow? Right, you put your other hand on it. You unconsciously apply it to yourself. And as a child, did mommy's kisses help with the pain in a sore spot? Yes, this kiss also works with the same universal energy. By learning to direct this energy, we activate our self-healing ability! 

A Reiki treatment gives people a good feeling, as if you are sitting in nature enjoying the sun with a warm breeze and in the background a babbling brook with waves of energy.

The treatment can be experienced differently by everyone . Some feel warm energy or vibrations. Others see energy in colors. Some do not notice much, but surrender to the trust in the treatment and the practitioner.

Distant healing

It is possible to be treated with Reiki remotely. When, due to circumstances, you are not able to be personally present, Reiki also works from a distance, because it transcends time and space. For this a recent picture is needed and an agreed-upon time to be kept available in order to receive the healing.

In case of physical complaints, I always ask you to go to your doctor first. Reiki can support your body through energy in addition to regular care. The session lasts approximately 1 to 2 hours in total. During the session, the Reiki treatment is given and there is room for a before and after discussion. Duration of the session depends on the type of treatment.
