What is a Himalayan Sound Bath?

A Himalayan sound bath is a guided group (or private) session in which participants are “bathed” in resonant tones produced by singing bowls, gongs, bells, chimes and sometimes voice or tuning forks. The most recognisable instruments are the metal singing bowls commonly called “Tibetan” or “Himalayan” singing bowls. Sessions typically combine gentle guidance, intentional breathing, and extended listening in a relaxed, reclined posture.

About Madhavi

Madhavi is a holistic yoga therapist with a solid foundation in ancient healing practices rooted in India. Her mission is to support the healing process of individuals and groups, guiding them through transformative journeys of self-discovery and reconnection with the self.

Sound healing forms an integral part of Madhavi’s holistic approach. She offers sound baths using authentic handcrafted Himalayan singing bowls, an ancient practice known to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, fostering deep relaxation, reducing stress and anxiety, and potentially releasing physical and emotional blockages.

During her sessions, Madhavi strikes and plays the bowls, producing rich, resonant vibrations that travel through the body, activating cells and organs to support the body’s natural healing capacity. She enhances the experience with a wide range of instruments including gongs, chimes, tinza, kalimba, handpan, kenari seed shakers, and rain sticks, often weaving in the sacred sounds of mantras to create a profound, immersive journey. Her sound baths are not simply performances but deeply transformative experiences, designed to heal, awaken, and reconnect participants with the power within.

Madhavi’s expertise is grounded in extensive training. She is a certified Yoga Therapist from the prestigious Arsha Yoga Gurukulam in Kerala, India. She continued her studies in Yoga Therapy for Women’s Wellbeing under the renowned Uma Dinsmore-Tuli (UK) and later specialized in Hormone Yoga Therapy with Shakti Simone Lehner (Germany).

Her long stay in Rishikesh, India, offered her the unique opportunity to be trained by Master Muskan Singh in Healing Arts and Sound Healing, through which she earned her Ancient Tibetan Sound Healing certification. She also underwent intensive private training in Nada Yoga (the yoga of sound) with Master Kripa Ram Josh, who immersed her in the world of Vedic mantra chanting, Indian vocal music, and harmonium playing, all with a therapeutic approach.

With her profound knowledge, compassionate presence, and dedication, Madhavi creates spaces of healing, relaxation, and inner connection, inviting others to experience the transformative power of sound.

“I absolutely love the sound of the gong, it beautifully completes the harmony of the Himalayan bowls. The experience was truly amazing! Mahé Yoga Studio is the perfect place for it, with its beautiful space, uplifting energy, and deeply relaxing atmosphere.”
